The Roman Catholic doctrine stating that Mary the mother of Jesus retained her virginity after Christ’s birth and for the rest of her life is just plain heresy. Worse, it is a blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, author of the Scriptures, because it in effect accuses the Word of God of lying to us. Mary, also called St. Mary or the Virgin Mary, (flourished beginning of the Christian era), the mother of Jesus, venerated in the Christian church since the apostolic age and a favourite subject in Western art, music, and literature. Mary is known from biblical references, which are, however, too sparse to construct a coherent biography.

Virgin Birth. Historically, the Christian belief that Jesus was miraculously conceived through the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary without sexual union with man (Matt ; Luke ).This doctrine is to be distinguished from the Roman Catholic belief in the "perpetual virginity" of Mary (i.e., that she remained a virgin throughout her life) and the "immaculate. Doctrine isn’t just for theologians—it’s important for every Christian because it shows us who God is and how we should live. Systematizing the robust theology that has undergirded John MacArthur’s well-known preaching ministry for decades, this overview of basic Christian doctrine covers topics such as God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, salvation, and g: virginity.

The Anglican Communion, Eastern Orthodoxy, Protestant faith groups and Roman Catholicism have taught the "virgin birth," although the term "virgin conception" would be much more has long been one of the Christianity's foundational beliefs, along with the inerrancy of the Bible; the God's inspiration of the authors of the Bible; the atonement, resurrection, and the anticipated. Against this doctrine [of the perpetual virginity of Mary] the objection is sometimes raised that the Bible mentions brothers and sisters of Jesus. The Church has always understood these passages as not referring to other children of the Virgin Mary.

CHURCH DOCTRINE That Mary remained a virgin her entire life is a De Fide (required of the faithful) doctrine of the Catholic Church. See Documents of Vatican II (LG57), Catechism of the Catholic Church,The Mother of the Redeemer, 39 (Encyclical Letter of Pope John Paul Il, ), and Ludwig Ott, Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma, pages Thorough without being overbearing, Bible Doctrine is a user-friendly book that covers all the main topics in systematic theology.

The Bible foretold this miracle in the book of Isaiah and reported its fulfillment in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. Genesis - now may it be that the girl to whom I say, ‘Please let down your jar so that I may drink,’ and who answers, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels also’—may she be the one whom You have appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness to.

Paul's preference for the unmarried state (1 Corinthians ) is based on the greater freedom for service (compare Matthew ), and the Greek estimate of virginity as possessing a religious quality per se is foreign to true Jewish thought (such a passage as Philo Mund. Coogan, who is also the author of God and Sex, notes that a precise word for virgin is used elsewhere in the Hebrew Bible.

Still, virgin persists in various translations of Isaiah. (One can compare several different versions of the relevant passage, and the rest of the Bible, on the American Bible Society’s website).

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ. Contrary to the claims of some, the Catholic Church does not teach and has never taught that Mary is God. That would be heresy. Mary is just a creature, but the greatest of all the human beings ever created by God. The virgin birth is an essential doctrine of Christianity: no virgin birth, no Redeemer, no Christianity.

The Bible is our textbook, and it places a high value on doctrine.

A little more involved biblical definition pertains to one of the primary Hebrew words rendered virginity. It says, "From a root meaning ‘separated,’ is a woman living apart; i.e., ‘in her father’s house’ and hence a ‘virgin’" (The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, Vol.

5, p. 3, ). Many leading Christian scholars were doubting not merely six-day creationism but also classic Christian doctrines like Jesus’ bodily resurrection and his virgin birth, that is, the miraculous in general.

The response of conservative Christians in America coalesced in a book called The Fundamentals: A. The perpetual virginity of Mary is the doctrine that Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, was a virgin ante partum, in partu, et post partum - before, during and after the birth of Christ.

It is one of the four Marian dogmas of the Catholic Church, and is held also by the Orthodox churches and by some Lutherans and Anglicans. Question: "Why is virginity so important in the Bible?" Answer: When the Bible uses the word virgin, it refers to an unmarried person who has not had sexual relations (see Esther and Revelation ).In today’s culture, many people use the word virginity to express sexual purity; however, many others use a technical definition to find loopholes in moral standards, limiting the word.

The three major Christian creeds, the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed, together constitute a fairly comprehensive summary of traditional Christian doctrine, expressing the fundamental beliefs of a wide range of Christian churches. However, many churches reject the practice of professing a creed, even though they may.An invaluable book for thoughtful, truth-seeking Christians." —Fr.

Mitch Pacwa, S.J., EWTN host and author of Mary: Virgin, Mother, and Queen "Tim Staples presents a remarkable defense of the six major Marian doctrines, including a veritable compendium of source material from the Bible, Fathers, and Church documents.

Some major Christian religions firmly believe that Mary was a perpetual virgin, and ardently support the idea that Jesus was her only child. It is further claimed that even in the process of giving birth, she still somehow retained her virginity.
